The Heron Practice is a Safe surgery. All are welcome. EVERYONE living in England has the right to free care from a GP.Don’t have documents? Don’t worry…

We are a Safe Surgery for everyone in our practice area. We won't ask for ID or proof of address in order to register with us. We will NEVER ask for immigration documents. Your nationality or immigration status do not affect your right to register here

Ask reception for an interpreter if you find it difficult to communicate in English. If you are worried about giving us your address, please let us know. Your information is safe with us.

The Heron Practice is proud to be a training practice

This means that doctors in the practice have been trained to teach and from time to time medical and nursing students attend the practice. We also train future GPs so you may be seen by a GP registrar (training GP). Please let reception know if you prefer not to be seen by a trainee or if you do not want students present in your consultation. We will always inform you in advance and if you do not want them to be present at a consultation, your wishes will be respected. This will not affect your treatment in any way.

This practice is delighted to be signed up to the Green Impact for Health Toolkit and is actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

The climate emergency is also a health emergency, and health care in the UK contributes 5.4% of the UK's carbon emissions. We need to enhance the health of our current population without compromising the health of future generations, and this means operating within the sustainable boundaries of the planet. Fortunately most of the solutions for the planet also make our health better - for example eating a mainly plant-based diet, engaging in active travel and exercise in nature, avoiding smoking, reducing pollution etc all enhance our health and reduce our need for medications, with further benefits to the NHS, your health and the carbon footprint of healthcare. Take a look at to learn more about this.

The Heron Practice has received a Certificate of Achievement for promoting healthy lifestyles!
